NAIT, Kidney Lake
Full campus delivered to a roadless northern site.
For the 50th anniversary of NAIT's Forest Technology program, Herauf rebuilt the Kidney Lake field camp northwest of Whitecourt, Alberta, the camp's first major upgrade in more than 30 years. We manufactured 14 dormitory buildings (56 rooms), 3 classrooms, and a food storage building in our controlled facilities, then installed them on a bush site with challenging access, working around unpredictable weather and a fixed academic deadline, ready for the September intake of first-year students.

Pilot Butte, SK
A new gathering place for the town.
The Saskatchewan town of Pilot Butte set out to build a water and spray park anchored by a modern washroom facility designed as a community gathering space. Herauf delivered the building on time and within budget, turning a recreation plan into a place residents use every summer.

St. Theresa Point First Nation
Homes reached a fly-in community when nothing else could.
St. Theresa Point is one of Canada's most remote communities, accessible by ground only when winter ice roads form. Herauf built in controlled facilities through the off-season, then timed delivery to the ice-road window, first a Child & Family Services building, and in March 2026 a second convoy carrying three youth transitional homes roughly 700 km north over the ice, a delivery covered by Eagle Feather News. Quality housing, where conventional weather-dependent construction simply isn't viable.

Twin Valley Co-op
A self-contained facility ready to operate on arrival.
Twin Valley Co-op, part of the Federated Co-operatives network, needed a durable, low-maintenance washroom facility for its Birtle, Manitoba Cardlock site. Herauf delivered a turnkey package: touchless fixtures, epoxy floors, and mechanical ventilation, paired with a self-contained wastewater system using insulated piping and heat trace for year-round reliability. Built once, to specification, and ready to use on arrival.

Buffalo Lake Métis
An empty plot became a community in days.
Partnering with CMHC and government agencies, Herauf delivered 20 new homes to address housing insecurity for the Buffalo Lake Métis Settlement. Because the homes were built in advance, on-site installation transformed an empty plot into a lived-in community within days, each home built to stringent quality and durability standards.

“We ordered an office unit for a new oil-field battery near Wainwright. We installed it before winter, didn't even have it skirted in, and it stayed nice and warm all winter, with no rodent problems. Very tight package.”

What people ask about our work.
What kinds of projects has Herauf Modular completed?
Herauf has delivered education campuses, Indigenous and Métis housing, community recreation facilities, and commercial washroom and sewer units across Alberta, Saskatchewan, and British Columbia, including NAIT's 56-room Kidney Lake campus and 20 homes for the Buffalo Lake Métis Settlement.
Can Herauf build for remote or hard-to-reach sites?
Yes. Because modules are built in controlled facilities and delivered complete, Herauf can reach sites that conventional construction can't, including fly-in First Nations communities served by winter ice roads, such as St. Theresa Point in northern Manitoba.
How quickly can modular homes be installed on site?
Since modules are manufactured in advance while site work happens in parallel, installation is fast. At the Buffalo Lake Métis Settlement, 20 finished homes turned an empty plot into a lived-in community within days of arrival.
Can I see proof of Herauf's track record?
Yes. Herauf provides reference letters from clients including NAIT, St. Theresa Point First Nation, Twin Valley Co-op, and Zagime Anishinabek, viewable directly on this page.
