What sizes does a modular office come in?
The commercial catalogue has three office buildings, smallest to largest:
- Safety office, 30' × 14'. The smallest office in the catalogue.
- Site office, 40' × 18'. The standard office for a lease, a camp or a project site.
- Office, 55' × 18'. Five offices, a boardroom and a kitchenette in one building.

Skid or foundation: which does an office need?
It depends on whether the office has to move. Site offices and safety offices are usually built on a steel skid with self-contained plumbing, electrical and HVAC, so the building can be lifted and relocated when the project moves. An office meant to stay where it is sets on a permanent foundation instead. Decide this at the start: a unit is relocatable when it is specified that way from the beginning, because the skid is welded in Herauf's own shop and travels under the building from the plant floor.
How long does a modular office take?
About 16 weeks from order to delivery for most builds, up to 50% faster than conventional construction. The time comes back because the two jobs run at once: your ground work happens while the office is framed, wired and finished indoors. What code is a modular office built to?
Each unit meets or exceeds CSA A277 and the National Building Code for climate zones 6 through 8, and is inspected at every stage of production through to installation. Building indoors also removes weather delays from the schedule. What CSA A277 covers is explained separately.
